King Tut - Leopard :: November 24, 2009
Another photo from the wonderful King Tut exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). A few people wondered why it is being displayed at an art gallery not a museum, but I was reminded again and again of how amazing it is that all of this was made by artists that lived over three thousand years ago.
This wood and gold head of a leopard, worn by Sem priests while performing the "opening of the mouth" ceremony was found by Carter in Thebes, Valley of the Kings, in the Tomb of Tutankhamun (kv 62)
