Gulu Walk
(A duplicate today.) On Tuesday night I walked the 12km or so from Victoria Park subway station down to City Hall with about 40 other people, in support of the Gulu Walk -- check it out if you haven't already.
I had also volunteered to stay overnight to watch over the organizers, Adrian (on the left, with the hat) and Kieren (on the right), who sleep at city hall, then walk back home another 12km. This picture was taken at about 2AM -- I'll have a few more pictures over the next few days from my night awake at Nathan Philips Square.
These two amazing guys have been doing this every night and morning since July 1st, to:
-
raise awareness and support for the 'night commuters; the children of rural northern Uganda, who, to avoid abduction by the rebel army, walk every night towards the safety of larger cities, like Gulu, from as far as 12km away. And every morning they return to their homes to work or attend school.
